Matthew Dumouchel Real Estate

Windsor Real Estate Specialist
Hello! I’m Matthew and I’m glad you’re here

I have a lot to tell you about Windsor. The people, the lifestyle, the real estate, the opportunities and why it’s such a great place to live. Probably everything you need to know about living in Windsor. I’m not bragging.        I just love it here – and you will too!

Below you’ll find access to all the information you could ever want to know about buying and selling real estate in Windsor. I’ve worked hard to make this website is your “Go To Resource for Windsor Homes for Sale and Real Estate”.

What makes Windsor so great?

There’s a long list of reasons people move to Windsor and stay, but let’s start with the size. With a population over 200,000, Windsor is a multicultural city that has everything you need to put down roots, buy a house and raise a family.

It’s located in Southwestern Ontario right across the border from Detroit Michigan. On the map you’ll notice the proximixity to the Detroit River, Lake Erie and Sandpoint Beach. It’s known as The City of Roses and boasts 3,000 acres of green space, 180 parks, 64 km of trails, natural areas and forest cover within the city.

How long has it been so great?

Windsor is about 160 years old which gives it a rich heritage of pioneering spirit and a culture of can-do. You can see this is a point of pride for us everywhere you turn. Beautiful areas and homes are found in Windsor including the ever popular Walkerville area.

This community was designed by the American entrepeurneur Hiriam Walker who first incorporated it as a town of its own in 1890 and called it Walker's Town. It houses the Willistead Manor designed by Albert Kahn, the former Prime Minister Paul Martin's home, the distillery, and the newly renovated Via Rail train station.

I could go on about the structural delights of Windsor – often a combination of murals on distinguished buildings – but it’s really best if you just visit and see for yourself.

If you visit during one of many Windsor's festivals or heritage events, you’ll be sure to get the full measure and a lot of entertainment as well!

Windsor celebrates ... a lot!

With festivals in mind, Windsor is big on them. We’re talking serious civic pride and celebration of its heritage, its youth, its art and artists and its culture of health and vitality. This includes the very popular Art in the Park in Willistead Park.

There’s also the Windsor Buskerfestival, which is a 3 day festival in the Walkerville area that allows artists and street performers to showcase their talent to the masses.

And there’s Windsor Pride, which is a week-long  celebration of  strengthening the sense of community and contributes to the vibrancy, health and overall well-being of persons in the LGBTTIQ of Windsor-Essex and surrounding communities.

Of course, it wouldn’t be Windsor without the annual Summer Fest that takes place alongside the scenic Windsor riverfront that is fun for the entire family and stages a carnival, music and fireworks!

Health, Fitness and Sports

With all the walking trails, outdoor sports fields, playgrounds, sport facilities and venues plus a number of sports organizations, events and programs, it’s pretty obvious that Windsor is big on healthy and active lifestyles.

WFCU Centre

It should go without saying that Windsor has a thing for hockey, but I’ll say it anyway. The Windsor Spitfires are a crowd favourite and are a part of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). They were founded in 1971 and have won several championships including the Memorial Cup 3 times and the Wayne Gretzky trophy 4 times.

How about your kids’ education?

Windsor has excellent schools, including 94 elementary schools and 23 high schools within a public and Catholic school division. There are great private, pre-schools, nursey schools and daycare options as well. Windsor schools consistently rank in the top 100 if not top 40 across Canada.

As for post-secondary opportunities, Windsor iis home to the University of Windsor, St Clair College and a multitude of private institutions that boasts exceptional teaching style, quality of teaching and class sizes.

Getting around and commuting

Getting around is pretty effortless in Windsor. On top of accommodating cycling, you won’t really find any traffic jams in Windsor. There are “rush hours” but they’re better described as “need an extra 5 minutes or so.” Transit Windsor has bus routes throughout the entire city core that allows you to travel from one end of the city to another.

                                                               Ouellette Street

And where would you go? Well, there’s a thriving business district, great eats and fine dining, lots of entertainment choices, clubs, movies, live theatre and more shopping in stores, supermarkets, boutiques, malls, big box and specialty shops than you’ll know what to do with. Decisions, decisions!

Get in Touch

I enjoy Real Estate because I get to meet a lot of people over the course of a day or a week that I wouldn’t otherwise meet if I was just wandering around and enjoying the community. Of course, I do that too as often as not. Did I mention the energy around here? It’s great!

Need a second opinion about Windsor?

Okay, so my passion for Windsor is pretty obvious and I admit I might be biased. But you don’t have to just take my word for it. Recently, The Huffington Post Canada ranked Windsor as the #3 city in Canada as the BEST city for jobs and affordable housing!

HGTV this year stated that Windsor is in the top 10 for best city to buy your Canadian home!

Of course I think Windsor is #1 in all the best categories, but maybe that’s just me.

I’ve found the best way to excel as a real estate agent in Windsor is to simply listen to the buyers and sellers that hire me. I’m “fun to know” and I’ve had so many great conversations with so many people that I’ve really come to understand each person’s expectations. I want to find you the perfect place, your ideal home and I know how to listen to what you’re saying when you try to define such an elusive thing.

From there, finding you the right home in Windsor is then a matter of knowing the neighbourhoods, the proximity to this great school or that great business niche, that sort of thing.

Real Estate in Windsor

All the neighbourhoods in Windsor are “good neighbourhoods” and all of the communities are “popular communities.” Considering Windsor’s high marks, top rankings, and overall positive energy I mentioned earlier, people are happy living here and pride-of-ownership abounds.

As a result, Windsor's housing market has always been pretty stable. However, recently, a shift in the market has seen huge interest in homeownership and prices have begun to increase! Sure, it fluctuates with the economy but being such a desirable place to live and self-sufficient like it is, Windsor is a persistently solid place to invest in a home – not to mention a business or career path.

New Homes

About me, Matthew, your real estate agent or friendly advisor – or both!

On top of making some life-long friends through real estate, I have won a few awards along the way if you don’t mind me saying. Things like the Service Excellence Award with a previous brokerage have been acheived through consistent listening to my clients needs and wants. I’m very proud of my awards not just because they show that I know what I’m doing in real estate but because they represent many, many happy home owners.

Real Estate blends well with my disposition. I’m happy when you’re happy. It’s a very fulfilling career, both personally and professionally.
